Privacy Policy — Monexa: Expense Budget Tracker

Introduction:
Monexa Expense Budget Manager (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a lightweight personal finance app that helps you track income, expenses, transfers, budgets, and savings goals. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses or collects, how it is used, and your choices. Data We Collect
Account & Contact Information: Email address or name only if you voluntarily provide them (for support, backup links, or purchase receipts).
Financial Data: Transaction records you enter (amounts, categories, notes, dates, accounts, tags). These are stored locally on your device unless you explicitly export or share them.
Device & App Data: App usage data and error/crash reports (only if you enable or the app includes crash-reporting; see below).
Camera & images (optional) : when you use the receipt/scan-bill feature the app will request camera access to capture receipt photos; you can also select existing photos. Images and any extracted text are used only to pre-fill transaction fields (you confirm before saving). On Android 13+ the app prefers the system Photo Picker which avoids READ_MEDIA_* manifest permissions; on older platforms the system may request limited media permissions at runtime.
SMS Content(optional): Scan SMS lets you Scan or paste messages directly into the app.
Purchase Information: In-app purchase receipts and product identifiers (processed by Google Play Billing) to enable Pro features. Purchase handling is performed by Google Play; we receive only the information necessary to enable paid features.
How We Use Data
To create, display, and manage your transactions, budgets, accounts, and reports.
To pre-fill entries using receipt images or SMS parsing to speed data entry.
To enable Pro features after purchase, and to provide support if you contact us.
To export data to CSV/JSON when you request it.
To diagnose and fix app issues (only if crash/usage reporting is enabled).
Local Processing and Storage
By default, transaction data and scanned content are stored locally in a SQLite database on your device. Receipt image processing and SMS parsing are performed on-device unless explicitly stated otherwise. The app does not upload your transaction data to our servers unless you explicitly choose to export, share, or sync (if a sync option is available and enabled).
Permissions
Optional - (storage, network) may be requested for exports and optional remote features; these are described at the point of request.
SMS data is used, stored, and not shared with third parties (android.permission.READ_SMS )
Third-Party Services
Payments are processed through Google Play Billing; Google receives purchase transaction data as described in Google’s policies.
The app may optionally use third-party crash-reporting or analytics services (if enabled). If such services are used, their data practices will be disclosed in future updates of this policy and limited to aggregated or anonymized diagnostics unless you opt in otherwise.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal or financial data.
We will not share transaction data with third parties except: (a) when you export/share it, (b) to comply with legal obligations, or (c) as required to provide Pro feature entitlements (e.g., confirming a purchase via Google Play).
Any third-party service we use will be bound to process data only as necessary to provide their service.
Data Retention
Transaction data and scanned receipts are retained on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
Exported files (CSV/JSON) are created on your device and are managed by you. We recommend secure backups and device encryption.
Your Controls and Choices
You can delete individual transactions, categories, or accounts from within the app.
To remove all app data, use the in-app settings (if available) or clear app data via your device settings.
Manage permissions (camera) through your device’s app permission settings.
To request data access, correction, or deletion beyond what the app provides, contact support at the address below.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect data stored on your device. Please note that no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. We recommend using device-level protections (screen lock, encryption) and keeping the app updated.
International Transfers
Data stored on your device is subject to the laws of the country where you and your device are located. If we process data using any service provider outside your country, we will ensure appropriate protections are in place.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated in the app or by updating the Effective Date.
